I think that all of us are saddened by the events that these guys did. However do you think that this would have made the front page of USAToday.com if the group had been someone other than greeks?
I tend to think not...as we all know, simply because we have chosen to create and continue our wonderful organizations we become targets. Do they threaten to shut down residence halls when someone is caught with alcohol? Of course not. Does the math club or any other club lose it's recogonition as a University approved club if one of their members were to hurt themselves after attending a club sponsored party? I'd bet it would be a cold day in hell before something like that were to happen...Another example, just happened on UNL's campus (read about it
here ) where a student stabs two others with scissors after they and 2 others kicked in this student's door...Is the university doing anything about this? Nope...just handed it over to the police...do you think the same thing would have happened if it had been between two greeks?
I think that perhaps we should use this opportunity to let USAToday know that we as Greeks don't appreciate being singled out. You can send comments to USAToday
here .
