I want to congratulate you on your acceptance and decision to attend FSU. It is a beautiful school and wonderful place to spend your next four years! I did not attend FSU, but I can speak on behalf of attending your rival UF.

1) You should set yourself up with a meal plan just in case you do need this on campus. You can make adjustments once you pledge and find out what your life will be like as a new member. It is better to be safe!

2)I am not so sure it is members that MAKE you feel like you need to dress like them or own what they own. It may just be that more and more of them choose to wear certain things and you start to question it yourself. Do I need to wear these designer things? Must I wear them to fit in? I think you need to realize you were chosen/invited to belong to this organization without all of these so called things. You must be the person you are and represent yourself well based on what you choose to do. Yes, some groups do wear designer goods and yes, members may follow and do so as well. In my experience(s), I decided what I felt I needed to do with remaining true to who I am. There will be times you do need to conform to wearing certain things, but you should never feel you have to change your entire wardrobe to be part of the sorority.

3)I do not advise taking a job your first semester, if at all possible. It would be best to get into the rhythm of your studies and what is involved in your sorority first.
I eventually took a job on campus part time and managed my studies and sorority life. I was not very active in other clubs besides my sorority as my major involved a great deal of lab time throughout my four years. I was not the most active member nor was I the least active on campus. It all can be done, but you have to judge what is right for you. It is all about balance.

Have fun and please report back! I love hearing about Florida girls and their success.
