At my school, we make those fleece blankets that consist of just two piece of fleece on top of each other, and then you tie little knots all around the edges. Here are directions and a picture:

Also, I've heard of chapters taking regular ballpoint pens, attaching fake pansies to the top, and then using that green gardening tape to attach them (so the pen looks like the pansy's stem). They always have these at Jo-Ann's by the registers if you're not sure what I'm talking about.
