True, we talk about grades and recs a lot on GC, because they are "foot in the door" type things. A socially awkward PNM who is stacked on paper isn't any better than a PNM with a great personality but terrible grades. A PNM needs to look good on paper AND have conversation skills/good personality match for the chapter.
