Beta Theta Pi at OSU is now known as the Antioch fraternity.
Numbers have grown since parting with Beta Theta Pi. We now have over 60 people living in the house. Expansion is planned as well... we will be opening a new chapter of Antioch at University of Oregon next fall.
Beta Theta Pi took the chapter charter for several reasons. The house had split into two political 'parties.' There was a hard-partying 'wet' group who wanted to relive animal house. These guys got us all in a lot of trouble for alcohol violations. About half of the house did not drink at all, mind you.
The group I was a part of was Christian-minded and did not drink. You think this would not be a problem with the General Fraternity. Later, we found out it is a very big problem.
Almost all of the people who drink were kicked out or left. The general fraternity did not like us mixing religion and the fraternity. By that time, our numbers were getting small, but we were growing quickly. We lost our charter and we were told that it was because of the low numbers and actions of the people we had already kicked out.
