Do you remember your ELCs?

Since I work alone I often have time to think about a lot of things that no one else ever has time to recall. In my head, I was trying to name all of the ELCs who ever came to visit our chapter. I wasn't able to name them all, but I was able to remember a specific few who really stood out --

Mike Cooperman -- this is the first one that always pops into my head. This guy was VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY proud of his fraternity and position in it. He really ripped us for a rush shirt we'd made and used it in his presentation at General Assembly.

Chris Chihoski <sp> -- this guy was pretty funny. Very ar-ti-cul-ate guy. Also a lot shorter than he appeared in his picture. He also was a big fan of Mike Cooperman's. That visit actually went really well. Man, that little guy could eat too!

Mike Stala -- unfortunately he's no longer with us, but this guy really knew how to call someone out when they were doing wrong. Whew. I still cringe about that visit. The chapter at UNM had already asked us if he was going to be our ELC and pretty much told us to get ready to be torn apart. They weren't kidding. He didn't sugarcoat anything and let me have it since I was the High Alpha at the time. Pretty much we thought we were in great shape before his visit.

Jason (last name escapes me at the moment) -- this guy was very business-like, but could flip a switch and play the male-bonding "who can insult who the worst last" game with the best of them. We had a really crazy brother named Brian Joslyn back then who was always goofing around and tossing random comments to make everyone laugh (and was very successful at it). Jason actually had Brian on the ropes a few times and outdid Brian's jokes.

These were the four I remember most because I was High Beta or High Alpha during those semesters. Those were also the years that we had the most growth in our chapter in years. We were finally able to go from the "Argh! The ELC is coming soon! We have to fix everything as fast as possible!" to the "Oh, the ELC is coming tomorrow. No big deal. We pretty much have it under control". Of course, Mike Stala let me know how wrong we were about that...
