ZTA moves its Texas A&M chapter due to house safety concerns
February 25, 2008
Zeta Tau Alpha’s Fraternity Housing Corporation has moved the residents of its Theta Gamma Chapter House at Texas A&M University in College Station to temporary housing while it addresses structural concerns about the facility.
“Our number one priority has always been the safety and security of our members who live and meet in our housing facilities,” said Corporation President Julia Marthaler Hill. “Based on expert opinion, we have concerns about the structural integrity of the facility, so we have taken steps to be sure that our members have a safe place to live for the rest of the school year.
“We regret that we have inconvenienced our members in this way. We have met with the resident and non-resident members of this outstanding chapter and have assured them that we will do everything within our power to keep them safe and provide them with housing and meeting facilities”
The Theta Gamma Chapter house, located at 1403 Athens Drive, was built in 1982 and is owned by the ZTA Fraternity Housing Corporation.
For the remainder of the school year, ZTA members who lived in the chapter house will be housed off-campus at the NHC’s expense. The chapter will hold its meetings and activities on campus.
The Fraternity and the NHC thank the members of Theta Gamma Chapter, their parents and the Department of Greek Life at Texas A&M for their cooperation and understanding.
