Who is your most frequent competitor?
I was helping a Theta friend put together some statistics for a project she is working on and we came up with a list of Kappa Alpha Theta's most frequent competitors (or the number of times Theta meets each other sorority on a campus). I thought you might find it interesting:
Kappa Kappa Gamma, 90
Delta Gamma, 85
Pi Beta Phi, 80
Delta Delta Delta, 73
Alpha Chi Omega, 68
Alpha Phi, 61
Chi Omega, 61
Gamma Phi Beta,50
Kappa Delta, 49
Alpha Delta Pi, 43
Zeta Tau Alpha, 31
Delta Zeta, 29
Alpha Omicron Pi, 28
Alpha Gamma Delta, 27
Sigma Kappa, 26
Phi Mu, 24
Alpha Epsilon Phi, 21
Sigma Delta Tau, 21
Alpha Xi Delta, 18
Phi Sigma Sigma, 5
Delta Phi Epsilon, 4
Alpha Sigma Alpha, 3
Sigma Sigma Sigma, 3
Alpha Sigma Tau, 1
Theta Phi Alpha, 1
Where some of the sororities ended up surprised us both. Just for kicks we did a list for Alpha Xi Delta (Theta's traditional rival with the least common meetings) to see how it looked:
Delta Zeta, 40
Zeta Tau Alpha, 39
Chi Omega, 33
Alpha Phi, 30
Alpha Chi Omega, 28
Delta Gamma, 25
Phi Mu, 25
Pi Beta Phi, 25
Alpha Gamma Delta, 24
Alpha Delta Pi, 23
Alpha Omicron Pi, 23
Delta Delta Delta, 22
Sigma Kappa, 22
Gamma Phi Beta, 21
Kappa Delta, 21
Kappa Kappa Gamma, 21
Kappa Alpha Theta, 18
Sigma Sigma Sigma, 18
Phi Sigma Sigma, 15
Alpha Epsilon Phi, 12
Alpha Sigma Tau, 12
Delta Phi Epsilon, 12
Sigma Delta Tau, 11
Alpha Sigma Alpha, 6
Theta Phi Alpha, 6
Interesting how different the two lists look. Alpha Xi Delta's recent emphasis has been at smaller Greek systems and their most frequent competitors are also more predominately at smaller systems.
The above information proves or implies nothing--I just thought it would fascinating for others to see, You may wish to make a list for your own group.
