They can't do that without your consent. Section 606(a) of the Fair Claims Reporting Act [also found in
15 U.S.C. 1681(d)(a)] prohibits the procurement or preparation of an investigative consumer report on any consumer without clearly and accurately disclosing to the consumer that a request for such a report may be made.
