hmm high school? here's a good story to explain the dichotomy of that time period:
I was on the front page of the Des Moines Register twice in high school (not a big feat really) - once as part of a national-champion roller hockey team (they used my picture, i was the goalie, for the story), and once for college admissions test scores (i did pretty well...)
I was "the smart kid", but I played hockey and golf too, and had friends in most every group - my group was known as partiers generally (still are), and I take hellish pride in being the "smart kid" who "parties a lot" - gotta keep it straight-up, even in high school.
Balance the academic with the social, all things in balance
