Ahhh, once again the phrase "the negative Animal House image" crops up. If Animal House portrayed such a negative image, why did fraternity numbers shoot up after its release???
As Greg commented, lots of non-Greek students party too, but you never hear about that. What about the student at Penn State who drank herself into a near coma - that story went away very quickly - if she would have been greek we'd probably still be hearing about it.
When students get discouraged from pledging by media, parents and administration the minute they step on campus, what can we expect? Alcohol free housing isn't the answer, it's just a front-row seat at the Hypocrisy Theater (go ahead & drink, just so we can cover our butts). If there's anything students can sniff out it's hypocrisy.
Let's get back to our values, true, but let's all also admit that having fun isn't a crime.
