I must be the unluckiest person in the WORLD when it comes to ROOMMATES!!! I have been in 3 different dorm rooms since September, and I finally thought that my current roommate & I were going to be great friends. This week she has been a COMPLETE b*tch! She says it's PMS but I know it's more than that. A couple of times this week she has locked me out the room, leaving a message on the dry-erase board that said "LOCK THE DAMNED DOOR OR ELSE!" As if she thought I had gone to class without locking the door. One of those times I was in BATHROOM and had forgotten to erase my note that said I was in class, and another time I had gone downstairs to talk to someone briefly.
We got along really great at the beginning of this semester, but not so much anymore. It seems every time one of us is sleeping, the other is awake wanting to do something. She has all 8am classes, and then takes naps in the afternoon and early evening when I'm getting back from my classes. I have afternoon & night classes, so I sleep in later in the morning. I cannot sleep with the light on at ALL, or with any noise (probably b/c I'm an only child and used to having my own room). She seems to get PISSED if I ask to turn the light off when she's on her computer (there's a light on the computer---hello?!?!--I need my sleep!).
I think she got even more pissed because I was talking to and hanging out with some of her friends in the hallway outside the room. So WHAT?!? I went to high school with two of them---she's not entitled *exclusive* rights to hang out with them, or to exclude anyone else from hanging out with them. Besides, I don't really know many people on campus outside of GLOs, and it's nice to get to know other people too.
Then---I went to the bathroom, came back, and all the people were in our room (like 7 people). I didn't care at all, and I was just being funny when I said, "Wow, now there's a party in my room." And she snaps back with, "It's OUR room, not just YOUR room!!!" Where the heck did THAT come from? If I weren't such a kind person I would have SLAPPED her!!! It really upsets me when people are mad at me (especially for apparently no reason), and it takes a LOT to get me angry. Instead, I say, "Well I'm sorry for whatever I did to upset you." And she ROLLS HER EYES AT ME!!!
Lastly--she asks one of "her" friends to go out into the hall so they can "talk" (probably about me--who knows?). Then she goes into the room next door (where she often spends the night), slams it shut, then opens it just a crack so some of the other people can "talk" to her. Get this---I overhear her saying, "yeah, maybe I could move in with you, or get an apartment." Whaat???
So that was the LAST STRAW!!! I went downstairs into the lobby and started BAWLING.
My feelings are hurt VERY EASILY, especially if I don't understand WHY someone's mad. I really wish people would start teaching their kids better communication skills, honestly... :rollseyes: So I sat down there for an hour, thinking, why me? Why do I keep getting b*tchy or psycho roommates?!? I don't know what to do! I appologized to her not even know what I did wrong, and she totally blew me off!
