In my three recruitments as an active, I've only seen twins join the same chapter once. Every other set joined 2 different chapters.
The most recent set from last year, I distinctly remember that they were very adamant about not being viewed as a "matching set." Rush groups are assigned alphabetically by last name, so they would've been in the same one, but they insisted on being separated. They even went to 2 different high schools. They didn't room together on campus either.
Throughout rush, they would get mad if anyone happened to mention that they had a twin. I think they were just really focused on not being treated like a "package deal" which I can understand because I think people tend to treat identical twins that way sometimes.
They both preffed and joined different chapters and were very happy with that. I had one of them in class at the time, and I congratulated her on her bid, and she responded "OMG thanks, I'm just glad I ddn't end up in the same one as my sister or I would've gone nuts."
