Some sad news

I know it's been a very long time since I have been on here. Life has become very fast paced! I wish that I was posting on here with happier news.

EP has lost a sister. This is a very horrific story and the worst details are not mentioned in this story and I felt that this was enough. She was two classes ahead of me and I knew her very well.

Woman robbed, strangled by ex-boyfriend

Sep 13, 2007 11:16 AM PDT

Two suspects behind bars for a horrific murder. Metro says a woman was tied up, robbed and strangled in her own home, then her body was dumped in the desert. Metro first took up the case this past weekend when the parents of Shpresa Hamsaj reported her missing.

They told police she might have been having problems with an ex-boyfriend, Geoffrey Grove. It turns out Grove was in jail on unrelated drug and weapons charges. When they asked him about Hamsaj, he told them a horrifying story how he and a friend killed her.

It all happened in an upscale neighborhood near 215 and the 95. Neighbors say the Hamsaj lived the house right next door to John Robertson. Robertson says on Friday night, her dogs were making a lot of noise. Little did he know it was most likely from robbery and murder.

"That particular night, they seemed to be particularly active, angry, barking, yelling, running around, and I was about to go over, and I'm kind of glad I didn't," said Robertson.

Police say Hamsaj had become romantically involved with Grove. When she dumped him, they say he and a friend - Nicholas Navarrette - came back to rob her for revenge.

Grove says he handcuffed her with her hands behind her, and while he was ransacking the house for guns, his friend placed a white garbage bag over her head, a black dog leash around her neck and started strangled her.

Afterwards, police say the suspects told them they loaded the body into her own Lincoln Aviator and drove up to the west end of Grand Teton where they dumped the body near a power pole. Police then say Grove shot her twice in the head because he thought she was still alive.

When police searched Navarrette's home, they found several weapons, including semi-automatic pistols, sniper rifles, a shotgun and several stolen weapons.

Nowhere in the arrest report does it say anything about the suspects planning on killing her before they went over there, only that they wanted to rough her up a bit. Nevertheless, they're both behind bars facing murder charges.

Both suspects declined our requests for a jailhouse interview.
