Soft bristles?

Ok, so this is off the wall but I have to ask. Is there anyway to soften hairbrush bristles? After months of searching for the perfect large round brush to replace the one that broke, I found one very similiar. It has what I think are nylon bristles (not boar) and in my excitement I guess I didn't notice they were hard. I'm not kidding, I almost cried drying my hair because every time they touch my scalp I wanted to scream. Other than that, it styled my hair the way I wanted it. Any help?
