RIP-Parry O'Brien, Phi Kappa Psi from USC
Greek friends,
In case you missed the sad news one of Phi Psi's greats has died in California at age 75. Parry O'Brien broke the world record at the time in the shot put and won the Olympic Gold Medal in the 1952 and 1956 Olympics. He also won a silver in the discus. Many sport historians feel he revolutionized the techniques used in the shot put. His picture was often on the covers of sport magazines in that era. He is in the Olympic Hall of Fame.
Parry was a loyal Phi Psi at the University of Southern California and lived in the fraternity house during his years there. He will be remembered also for his successful careers in the fields of banking and real estate. O'Brien leaves his wife and four children.
