Five uncommon women joined by a singular idea banded together to create an organization that would forever change the face of historically Black Greek Letter Organizations. These exemplary women -- Arizona Cleaver Stemons, Viola Tyler Goings, Fannie Pettie Watts, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, and Pearl Anna Neal - established a sisterhood around principles that all Zeta Women hold near and dear to their hearts.
From this dream came a worldwide vision serving communities in the United States, Africa, Europe and Asia. We, the women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated vow to hold fast to our founders' vision, keeping it close to our hearts, safeguarding our Legacy and holding our Zeta Light aloft as a beacon for the entire world to follow.
On this most auspicious occasion, I wish to thank our most beloved and illustrious Five Pearls for having the foresight to depart from the traditional coalitions for college-educated African American women. Because of their tireless efforts I and thousands upon thousands of college educated women of all backgrounds have walked the Zeta path and rededicate ourselves to upholding the principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterly Love and Finer Womanhood. We have accomplished much, but our work is never done. Let us continue to reach for greater heights, to meet greater challenges, and to further advance our cause to leave our world in better shape than we found it.
Happy birthday, Sorors, and let us strive for continued success in the years to come.
