Sometimes experience is the best teacher. Her co-workers said the same thing Lauren said and she still did what she wanted to do. I think part of her is thinking that she will miss out on something if she didn't do it. Heidi, you're only 21! Geeze girl, you still got a WHOLE LOT OF LIVING to do.ETA which is part of growing up.
