I agree that most of us cannot imagine thinking about having sex in the 5th grade. However, the things we used to do have been influenced with sex in a manner they weren't when we were kids. You say you used to play video games. The video games now have extreme violence and sex acts portrayed. We didn't play games like that. Even wearing Guess jeans has been replaced with Apple Bottoms and Baby phat, which are both sexual descriptions, in my opinion. Basic cable that carried Nickelodeon (and not much else) has been replaced with cable networks that show explicit shows all times of the day and night, for free. You don't even have to pay extra for those shows anymore.
It's not just the media. Everywhere kids turn now, they are enticed by sex.
