YouTube Presidential Race?

I heard on the radio today, though I have yet to find written confirmation of it, that YouTube will be offering platforms for potential candidates to deliver their message to the people. I think that this is a really interesting idea and, if the platforms are free, such a practice has a lot of potential in addressing the campaign financing issues and the problematic and beholden relationships that are evident between politicians and their contributors.

What are your thoughts about the potential of the internet as a campaign tool, and the potential to use the internet to navigate some of the more problematic aspects of campaign finance?
