Regarding heels, I think most chapters wear them, but I think it surprised us to read "stilletos" specifically, since that is a very high heel that is not-so-fun to stand in for long periods.

I went to school in the west, so y'all know that we dress more informally on most campuses here (some campuses being exceptions). Flip flops were worn by many women on my campus during recruitment, though pref parties were always dressy.

ETA: I think the attitude at many western schools is for the girls to look cute/cool/trendy versus "classic," which is why we can get away with the flip flops/sandals/flats/Uggs/platforms/whatever-else range in footwear. Again, always exceptions for some campuses.
