This must be new. When we were stationed at West Point, we were always able to get free tickets to the Yankee/Red Sox games. At the time, the Yankees had a generous program that allowed the active-duty member to just show ID at the box office for himself and immediate family on the day of the game. We didn't get great seats, but never had a problem getting all of our seats together.

For what it's worth, the past 4 seasons, I've tried to get tickets for the Sox at Yankee Stadium. No luck--they sell out almost as fast as a Yankees game at Fenway. Yankee fans aren't as crazy as Massholes, but to say that the rivalry isn't taken as seriously is a steaming load of bull.

As far as SC State vs. USC, the SC State fans couldn't buy tickets from USC? I only see this being a problem if and only if the SC stadium sells out for every single game. Race finds its way into some crazy things, but I doubt this is one of them. If any small school in SC were to play USC, I wouldn't be surprised if they got the same # of seats.
