But, the older members who are more vocal and accessible to the younger members are the ones who influence the new lines. There may be some truth to this but it goes much deeper than this. In my context, there are some real transmogrifications of "traditions" that go agsinst the spirit of fraternity and the things we hold dear, and moreover, made up stuff that is on offer now. This is a real issue where things that have been passed down for generations, not for a few years or for even of those of my generation, are being forgotten or pushed to the side. Like I said traditions are fluid; but what is alarming is that much of what I'm referring to is not positive and leading towards upholding real fraternal and human values. I'm speaking in my context where this is a hotly debated issue, where I do see the arrogance and lack of humility by those who, by virtue of their life and fraternal experience, aren't in a real position to "adjudicate" such matters.It's not so much about ego as about the future of the organization. One such E-mail was sent out recently by a former Grand officer who had a similar concerns.
