If I were getting a graduate degree in my current major, I would stay. I am familiar with all of the professors. I can also get the inside track on any types of fellowships, scholarships or research opportunities here and abroad. Depending on your major and your career goals, it might be advantageous to stay because of the financial advantage. There may be TAships available that no one else may know about. Departments have money set aside for students who have a strong academic record and have financial need. If you are worried about not being multi-dimensional consider staying at your school for a masters and then moving on.
