Adams Dairy Offers Summer Internship Opportunity
Adams Dairy, a 500-cow organic dairy in Eleva, WI (15 miles south of Eau Claire), is currently seeking applicants for its summer internship program. The intern’s main responsibilities involved learning how to rotationally graze heifers and cows, including moving fences, gauging pasture growth rates, moving
heifer pastures daily, moving cows between pasture and freestall daily, and construction of new pastures. Other tasks include (but are not limited to) heifer vaccinations, fresh cow and calf care,
special needs cow treatments (IV’s, tinctures, whey products, and homeopathy). Tractor/field work is also available if the intern desires. Travel to other farms can take place at the intern’s request. Exposure to salespeople, nutritionists, and other off-farm personnel can also easily be arranged. This program is adjusted to each individual’s desires and abilities. Full time employment for the summer is desired, with vacation time granted. Beginning and ending dates can be set mutually with early May through late August being preferred.
