V-Day...makes me wish I was 10 again
Man, when I was a kid, Valentine's was so simple. All I did was buy 32 Ninja Turtle or Saved By The Bell Valentines, write a quick note in each one to everyone in my class, add some Lifesavers, and pass them out during the designated Valentine's Day card hour.
You remember the little cards, the ones that say "I Choo Choo Choose You" or "Would You Bee Mine", the ones with little puns that we, as little kids, were supposed to find cute.
Now, all Valentine's Day is trying to find reservations, buying JUST the right present, spending ungodly amounts of money, providing that aura of spontaneity and surprise, and making sure the evening is "perfect." Don't get me started on all the single people out there who have to endure this day.
I wish I could pass out the little cards again, put them all into a folder made out of red and pink construction paper that's taped to the front of our desks. It's a time-honored tradition that has gone the wayside of the notes you used to pass to girls you like, the ones that said:
"Hi, it's me. I like you...do you like me? If yes, then circle yes. If no...FORGET YOU THEN!"
Circle:
Yes
No
Now, it's this complicated game that people hate to play, but know they HAVE to play. Again, I wish we could all be little again. Valentine's Day would be 20 times more fun.
