Wow...I agree that Terrence is a great actor. However, I am a little disturbed that this role has received so much praise. The movie was watchable but not breathtaking, outstanding, or even deep. I think it is a slap in the face for someone who has played complex characters and has talent far beyond that portrayed within "Djay." This character was a pimp who went to prison for beating up a star in the music business who didn't like his music. I hope Terrence wins, but I just don't understand it.
I know right...Never mind black actors portraying Malcolm X, Hurricane, some gripping ex-writer who beats depression, etc...basically, anything positive.

The Oscar board thought hmmm....why not choose a man that played a crooked cop (Denzel), a woman that played some white man's confused whore (Halle), and (possibly) a guy who played a pimp(Terrance). Oh and by the way, they are all black...WTF?

Only goes to show....
