You're a much kinder person than me - or better able to control their laughter.
One of the grad students (UofT School of Theology) in my Scripture in the Christian Tradition hails from BJU (so many jokes to make)... and I gotta admit he has provided me with the most amusement this academic term ~ nothing beats watching him try and score points against the prof. A Prof that happens to be a priest that taught ecumenical theology at the Vatican - and is fluent in Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek, and Latin (and can quote various translation of scripture in each as well). I think the grad guy was shocked that a Catholic priest could go toe-to-toe quoting scripture... and the works of Calvin, Luther, Wyclif, etc.
If Fr. Donovan was such a nice guy he might actually get offended... but he usually views it as an chance to explore various interpretations (literal/allegorical/theological/spiritual) of what happens to be in question.
