not that everybody was commenting to that effect, it just occured to me that more than a few of the responses were "seeking a reason" (in one wording or another) and sometimes there just isn't. one shouldn't look for reason in rape, unless they're trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with the rapist.

Sugar and Spice I agree with what you said. Rapes happen all over the place for whatever reasons during whatever situations. BUT.... I think people in this thread are just speaking in terms of this situation. Hell yeah 7 college football players would scare the crap out of anyone. It's horrible what they [allegedly] did. But you can't help but think that yes alcohol was a factor in this.
No staying away from parties won't keep you from getting raped, but getting annihilated (sp?) at a party and going home with some random guy is an unfortunate risk that this poor girl took.
