It saves people - particularly women - who don't know how easy it is to go to a foreign country, and, due to their naivete, end up in a position where they could lose custody of their children, their citizenship, and possibly their lives.
In this case, yes, I've singled out Islam - because of what happened to "Sarai". Had she gone to, say, Russia, and Orthodoxy had done the same thing to her, I would be outspoken about Orthodoxy.
