I've been around GC for a while, and I've seen my share of what I consider somewhat wacky alumnae who are interested in sorority membership. I've also seen countless rush threads where women post about being cut from all houses and then come back the next semester or the next year (or multiple times) with the same result.

This has all made me somewhat skeptical, and I can't help but (sometimes) think that "shopping around" is just the positive spin that a woman puts on a situation where she is, in one way or another, rejected from a group, or perhaps more than one group. Sometimes I get the sense that a woman is so desperate for membership that I would never believe her if she claimed that she didn't feel that such and such organization was a good fit for her.

Please note that I am not referring to anyone here.
