My computer is a Macintosh laptop too ....an ibook! The instructions are still the same. Did you actually try to hold the mouse button down before you posted that? Just now I unplugged my mouse and did the same exact thing with the touchpad/built-in button. Give it a try! If it still doesn't work, let me know what model of laptop you have and I'll find more specific instructions for you.
