I really think he was just so in love with Padme that he thought he was doing the right thing and Palpatine got him hook line and sinker with false promises. However, there are two things that I can't forgive him for: the Younglings, and attacking Padme. I think he touched the Dark Side just intending to use it to try and save Padme, and it ended up consuming him. But I still can't forgive him.
This movie was just so heartbreaking. I was so proud of him at first for turning in Palpatine, but we all know what had to happen. I don't even think he intended for Mace Windu to die... I think he thought Mace was violating the Jedi code and that he really just wanted Palpatine alive long enough to find out the secret to saving Padme, and then to hell with him. I guess that's what I mean by pitying him. A few stupid mistakes and next thing you know, you've destroyed everything you stood for and loved. Glad I don't have that kind of power.

Yeah I feel bad for him too. He became Darth Vader because he wanted to SAVE the people he loved. He viewed (in later years) the rebellion and other jedi's as people trying to stop him from doing t hat. I think we've all been in that situation.
