I'm not the nurse-type, either, but when it comes to someone or something you love, you can find it in yourself. There were only about 4 sutures holding Sharley's eyelids together. I had to put the (sterlized) tube with a long tip under the outside open part of the slit to the inside, then slowly keep even pressure as I put the line of antibiotic on his eye. It was horrible, but I loved him and did it. I can remember sitting cross-legged to hold him tightly, then doing it as he shook, then cuddling and singing to him as he tried to absorb the pain. He'd always lick my hand when he could handle it again. Poor little guy!

I once heard that there is a Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times." I've often thought that there was an Oriental nurse in the delivery room when I was born!
