an online group for potential members?

There have been so many Beta-hopefuls recently, and their interest and enthusiasm got me thinking!

I do understand the rule that members must join through land chapters before joining online. Pledge training is an essential aspect of membership, and this training is probably most effectively done on a one-on-one basis.

HOWEVER, I think it is terrible that so many women have come to Greekchat wanting very much to be sisters, but there aren't chapters in their areas or the chapters are not currently rushing. I would love to "Friendly Venture" a pre-membership online chapter. Instead of just waiting and feeling frustrated, potential members could communicate with one another, share their progress, support each other during the wait, exchange ideas for Friendly Venturing, and find contacts in their area. I realize that Greekchat is already filling this need, but I can personally attest to the closeness that is fostered in an online chapter. I think potential members could benefit from the chapter format.

Active members would serve as "sponsors," sharing their experience and advice with potential members. The sponsors could also communicate with International on behalf of potential members.

Thoughts??

Erica
