I finally finished a big afghan (it fits a queen-sized bed!) that I've been crocheting for about a year, and it inspired me to look for you guys' crafty stories.
BTW, for beginning crocheters, here is a really good site with a bunch of tips and photographs of how to do the various stictches:

I learned to crochet when I was 8, but I have no idea how to do all of the fancy stitches since I've only finished 2 projects, and I found that site to be extremely informative.
