As I read the history of this organization, I marveled at how all of the founders worked and had a genuine love not just for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, but also for the general community.
However, the one lady that really stood out to me was Miss Nellie Quander. Her committment and determination in ensuring that her organization would become established throughout the nation is to be emulated. It really gave me (as a Women's Studies major)a sense of pride in the accomplishments that the ladies of this organization have achieved. It also renewed my passion to one day become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
