I went through recruitment twice :-) The second time I went in with a really good understanding of what I was seeking in greek life (the qualities I wanted in a house, what I hoped to gain, what I hoped to share, etc.) and that definitely helped me get through the process with a clear(er!) mind. Maybe thinking through those sorts of things would be helpful for you too?
As for studying up-- I totally did. Guilty! Some of it honestly just helped curb my nerves a bit. It made the idea of sorority life seem less foreign and intimidating to me. No harm in flipping though each chapter's website.
