My criticism of most TKE chapters I've run into isn't hair gel, it's that "they're the chapter full of kids in cargo shorts and glasses wearing the american eagle t-shirts with 'witty' sayings on the front who dress like it's still freshman year of high school in 2001, are absurdly socially awkward, don't get paired with anyone for homecoming and have one of the two worst social calendars on campus but still act like they're the best". And it doesn't really bother me that they're that way, I interact with them very little. But it's absolutely not stupid and superficial to hear someone is thinking of rushing one of those TKE chapters and have your first response be to think "Oh my god, no. Why?"
