I have the same problem. However, not only do I sound young on the phone, but I also look young. I cannot get anyone to help me in stores. I assume this is because they think I don't have money to spend, so why waste their time. I know it's age because they will always bypass me for someone older unless I speak up and make them wait on me. I have also had salespeople younger than me tell me that I will grow into something.
The only way I'm growing into anything is by putting on weight. I've become so irritated with this that I take my business elsewhere when people do this to me. I figure unless what I want is really spectacular, I'll find it somewhere else. And the worst is the condecending, 'honey'
