Acidophilus helps. It is best in the form of yogurt for thrush though, since it's in the mouth and can work topically. I just painted my tongue with yogurt the first time and would let it sit for a while. The second time, I couldn't take anything by mouth because I'd just had 2 1/2 feet of intestine removed so I was on IVs only, no ice, nothing. I was begging for ice because my tongue and throat hurt and the doc looked and said "That's cuz you have thrush!". Oh joy! I had a mouth wash type med for that.. swish and spit.
Gosh I hope I never need another resection..lol. That wasn't fun at all. But, on the 5th day post surgery, I got the best grape popsicle I ever tasted in my life!
