Kids can't rap, and I partially blame speech

Guys, I don't want to start anything racial, but . . .

Some of you may or may not know that I'm a huge fan of so-called "underground" hip hop - rap, essentially, but stuff that isn't necessarily main-stream (whatever that means). I've noticed a disturbing trend lately:

KIDS TODAY CANNOT RAP.

They do stupid things like using proper grammar or attempting to incorrectly syncopate long, complete sentences, rather than relying on slang. Many speak the equivalent of the King's English, and while it can be enjoyable, often it disrupts the flow. Rather than sounding 'beat-poet', it comes off as silly and random.

Today, I even heard a rapper (Sage Francis) say:

The West Memphis 3 lost paradise/
it's death penalty vs. suicidal tendencies/
all I wanted was a fucking Pepsi/
institution

. . . WTF??? This doesn't even make sense within context! Why can't these rappers grow up in environments more conducive to their craft? The days of on-the-fly slang and intelligent demeanor are being overrun by extended metaphor and a distinct inability to tie the flow to the beat!

I'm an avid listener, but I'm not sure what I should do. Help me GreekChat!

PS I'm not a racist, I just don't think rap needs to be in 'ivoreebonics'
