I think the way they did it was just that from the time she was a puppy, everytime they took her out to go to the bathroom, then showed her the bell and rang it then let her outside. Also, if she had an accident in the house, they did something like point out the mess, then take her to the door and ring the bell..... Something like that. Whatever they did works. It is so cool to see a little dog go and ring a bell when she has to go outside!
I just had a very sad picture of trying to teach Buffy this... very sad. Maybe we can try it, though.

We did have a cat, however, who would paw the doorknob when he wanted to go outside.
