NY and DC tragedies

Although it has been over 48 hours since this has happened. I want to let all of our NY and DC GCers to know that our hearts and prayers go out to you, your family, friends, and loved ones during this time.

To all of the military personnel being activated, our hearts and prayers go out to you, also.

My first real job was across the street from the Pentagon. How Ironic. I would have been there that day if I didn't change locations...

I still work in Northern Virginia. I'm seriously thinking about moving after this.

words can't express my thoughts when the attacks occurred and days afterwards, i'm still in shock, to say the least. let's continue to pray, volunteer our time and donate money &/or items (blood, food, etc.). remember, everything is still in God's capable hands. God bless...

I would like to send my condolences to everyone and anyone who lost a loved one on my birthday, September 11, 2001.
I work on Wall Street and saw the whole event unfold before my very eyes. It was like a scene from an Arnold Swarrzanagger movie. The aftermath is stupendous.
To all of you outside of the New York area, please lend us your spiritual support in our time of mourning. Thank you.

My heart, and my prayers go out to everybody who was even remotely effected by the tragedies that took place on September 11, 2001.


The news sent shock waves through Chicago, causing mass confusion, terror, and concern, especially for the Sears Tower, and John Hancock Buildings.

I work in a very well known building in Chicago's loop (major downtown-area), and believe me, people were in a serious panic. The majority of our senior managers were out of town at a conference, so the other "managers" were acting like they couldn't make a decision without guidance. People were practically in tears with fear that there was an airplane on the way to our building. They wanted out!


Our managers finally decided to release us, because there was no work being done. People were running, I mean, literally running, out of the building. A couple of hours later, our entire building was evacuated. It was an unreal experience.

We had the exact same situation here in Boston. In Boston!

I'm like, "Hello, we're in Boston, hello 2 of the planes left from Boston, hello the John Hancock and the Prudential are right outside of our damn window!

The best middle management solution was to allow anyone who didn't feel safe to go home, but you had to make up whatever time you missed over the weeks ahead.

Finnaly we got confirmation from the home office somewhere in the midwest (like they don't pay management to make these decisions) and we joined the entire Downtown Boston in a mad dash to the buses, subways, cabs, etc.

My prayers are definitely with the victims and families of this tragedy. It was a wake up call for Americans to realize that we too can fall pray to terrorist attacks and be struck by the enemy. But on the spiritual level it was a call for repentance.

If my people who are called by name shall humble themselves and pray, seek my face, turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal the land.

We have become a desensitized and unmoral society. We have taken prayer out of our schools, workplace, everything that once matters. We should have been having a national prayer day every year not just in the midst of adversity!

September 11, 2001 will always be a special day that I will always remember. The lives that were lost but more importantly...how we the UNITED STATES OF AMERICAN actually STOOD together.

I don't know what the road ahead has in store, but all I know is that if we can do it in the midst of adversity I'm sure we can do it any other day.

You are absolutely right about that one. There was no "should we go to Congress" to ask for permission to pray. It was just done. I could never understand how we can proclaim to be "one nation, under God"... yet take Him out of everything. I understand the argument of opening ourselves up to paganism, but again, if we are who we say we are, then God should always be included.

I hope that all of my New York and DC sisterfriends have made it through alive and safe. Can you guys check in?? I work near the Pentagon and my husband works near the White House, so needless to say it was a very stressful day. My family is in New York and I was so blessed that they were all safe and sound. I have been watching the news and trying to understand why this has happened. Some say it's jealousy and fear. Others say it is a Religious war. Unfortunately these answers still don't alleviate some of the anger that I still have inside. I guess I am not comforted that this is not of God and I should be prayerful. or perhaps it is still the shock that is still inside. I broke down earlier last week like my husband. It relieved some of the pain, but I still ache for my fellow New Yorkers and my people down here that lost their lives.

I am glad that the forum is back up. I look forward to the comforting words of my sisterfriends. Many Blessings to you All.

On the news here, it was reported that 3 women were arrested for claiming that they were accepting donations (food, clothes, $$) on behalf of a company to help WTC victims. The company somehow found out about it and the three women were arrested. How triflin' can one get?

Also, the emails concerning Nostradamus' predictions are listed under Hoaxbusters as not being true. When I first received one, I checked his predictions and it looked like someone just mixed up several of his quatrains to suit their purposes.

It is really dispicable. Here it was reported that within ONE HOUR of this heinous act there were already spammed email hoaxes trying to get money or credit card numbers from people who wanted to help.

I spent the end of last week like a zombie. In a way I still cannot believe the sheer terror of it all. I know I have personally been traumatized- I have had nightmares every night since. And just when my waking mind was beginning to cope, I learned on Friday that a man I attended college with is among the missing. My heart broke all over again.

My prayers go out to all of the victims, their families and friends, the families of the rescue personnel putting their lives on the line, the ones who do it everyday, the military who are going in puruit of these incredible basturds, and all of us who have been affected directly and indirectly.
