				Official Co-ed date?

Curiousity from an APO brother. APO officially went fully co-ed (women could have full active membership) on December 30th, 1976. What is the official date on which men could have full membership in GSS?

Thank You

Well allow me to answer this one for you. Men could become full fledge members of Gamma Sigma Sigma since the founding and c reation of the national sorority. Gamma Sig has been non-selective since 1952. This question has been posed for many years, sio in 1995 at the national convention...it was passed that "gender" would be added to the non-selectivity status for clarity of the members and non-members. So to answer the question, Gamma Sigma Sigma has always been co-ed.

OK, then let me a few questions which may be close to what I'm looking for.

1) When was the first male granted membership in Gamma Sigma Sigma?

2) When was the first undergraduate male granted full membership in Gamma Sigma Sigma?

3) When did Gamma Sigma Sigma rush material state that all students could join?

4) Did Gamma Sigma Sigma's initial bylaws refer to those who could join and hold membership specifically as being women?

I am not sure why you want this information, but to my knowledge, there may not be timestamps on these items.

For more information on membership, go to http://gammasigmasigma.org/gss_membership.htm. If you have further questions, there is a link to email the membership director.

Well..Its hard to keep a date on things that are not that relevant, when ultimately the sorority has always been co-educational. If the sorority had been completely female from the beginning then changed over to co-ed, then everyone would be subject to the official date of the 1st male member (undergraduate, honorary and all), but being that the sorority has always had the power to allow males in for membership then it wasnt a big deal for everyone to keep tabs on the 1st male Gamma Sig.

			Oct. 12, 1952 if the official co-ed date. :-)

I admit asking for all 4 was overkill, but I truly am interested in when the first undergraduate male became a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma...

This thread is 3 years old. Seriously, why not contact HQ and ask them? If the information is on file, surely they would have it.
