Question GLO's that were once part of national

I was flipping through our plegde manual last night and came across the badges section (pledge and active pins) of all GLOs. I know that the sororities have a total of 26 different groups. However, there were three pins I saw that was not listed as part of the 26.

1. Iota Alpha Pi
2. Theta Upsilon
3. this badge was whited out

What happened to these groups? Did they get merged into one of the others?

As for the fraternities, there are 58 groups listed. 5 had pictures of their pins but was not listed as part of national.

1. Beta Sigma Rho
2. Kappa Nu
3. Phi Epsilon Pi
4. Phi Sigma Delta
5. Phi Sigma Epsilon

If there is already a thread about this, can someone link it? Thanks!

For the NPC groups, some were merged into other groups, I think DZ picked up a couple. And I think there is one that is still exists, just not at the NPC level.

Something I have always wondered (since learning about these mergers back in college and being amazed at the size of some of the absorptions) -- do you think a merger/absorption could/would happen in 2005 and beyond in fraternity or sorority chapters?

There was a thread about that. I can't find it though. Heather, do you remember what it was called?

Mergers

Mergers can still happen, in fact with the reduction in size of many NIC organizations I would not be suprised to see some mergers in the next decade.

Largest Fraternity Merger to this day was TKN with LXA!

The Problem is that Most GLOs dont have the Money!

Oh, I was told by Our Exec. Director that there could be more coming up in the future.

Last Big NIC that I remember was Phi Sigma Epsilon and Phi Sigma Kappa! I think it was around 1998 or around something!

Tom, forgive me for not looking further, but do you happen to know any notable/strong LXA chapters that were once TKN?

1985: Phi Sigma Kappa had many chapters on the coasts but not many in the midwest--Phi Sigma Epsilon had just the opposite--both groups were very similar in their ideals
The merger was formalized in 1987 with the changing of the crest and flag

Understand waht You are saying. PSE was strong in the Mid Part of Country!!!

What I heard was they had a Crappy HQ. and began dieing even though they were very strong on Campi!

Was the best thing that ever happened for them and PSK to grow with!

Same was true with LXA and TKN.. Became a perfect fit of Colleges for the most part. Some over laps of course.

Many stories on those a so chek LXA Thread for more Info!

TKN was a group of Locals who banded together to form TKN. Then when it became tough for them to survive, they went to The GLO who help them, LXA.

Proud to Be Brothers from Those Chapters, many Who are on GC from Those Chapters!

History So does mean a lot!
