Spring Rush 2005

I just read a rush update on my chapter's message board, and I had to share. Our undergrads are reporting that we've got 19 independents coming to rush, and that 15 of them are "VERY Serious."

This is great news, since we only got 4 new brothers in the fall (blame Shippnesburg U.'s deferred rush policy) and because we've been having trouble filling our new LCAP run house.

How's it going at other chapters?

Tennessee Spring Rush One More Night

Initiated 23 a few weeks ago, putting us at 80 guys.
Spring Rush started Tuesday, its looking good so far, much smaller numbers in the spring than fall because 1/8 of the people rushing and only 100 people are rushing overall. IFC and Greek life at UT have been under heavy scrutiny because they scheduled rush during All-Sing, an event all fraternities participate in, and one our chapter takes extremely seriously because we used to dominate the event. All the fraternities have about 25-30 percent of their members missing rush for at least an hour because they have to practice at a building off campus for All-Sing. Also, the UT- Kentucky basketball game started at 7pm the same time the first night of rush started, and 70% of our school plus a high percent of rushees were at that game.
We are looking at 12-15 guys, the quality is incredible, best I have ever seen for the spring. We will probaly give 12 bids and sign 8-9 quality guys. The great news is we only lose 6 seniors next year and get a few guys back from internships, so its looking like our chapter will easily be over 100 people for the first time in 3 years with a successful fall rush.
