I dunno about that. My feeling is that USC is just that damned good.
Well, OU won't be back to that game for a few years. Losing 16 starters this year. Of course, after last night, maybe that's a good thing?

While this might be true, OU sucked pretty badly on both sides of the ball. Not a strong endorsement for the Big 8 when the team that ran the league over for 3 years gets rolled out this year, and got beat pretty soundly last year . . . Just saying is all.

Dude, the Big 8 hasn't existed in forEVer.
And OU just didn't play that day.
Of course, when a college team plays a pro team, what else do you expect?
*snicker* Of course, I'm not impliying anything about the University of Spoiled Children... But they should be aware of what happened to other schools that did that...

Um, Bobby was referring to OU when he was saying Over rated. Don't get too excited.

I think one of the things it comes down to is psychology...of the quarterback...you have one that choked last year, and one that came through all year. Why wouldn't White choke again? Well, that and did you see that first interception? What was that pass? And let's not even get into bad decisions by punt returners.
I'm not a USC fan by any means, but it's about time that the west coast bias get shoved into the faces of the sportscasters. I'm sure had SC lost we'd never be hearing the end of it. Yay SC...and it's not the University of Spoiled Children..it's Univ. of South Central, come on now.

USC didn't beat OU, we beat ourselves. We allowed more turnovers than we had all season.
However, what I was implying (and Amycat was too dense to pick up on), was that there are rumors of inappropriate Booster club donations to the USC players... I hope that USC would have learned what happens to teams that have NCAA infractions, but I mean, even OU had to learn the lessons the hard way... And in socal where you can buy anything, why not be able to buy a National Championship?
Also, you're a college graduate, or at least in college, and you aren't from the South, never again use the word y'all.

Ahh, the rivalry fever took over and I didn't read Bobby's post clearly! Yes, the Trojan hatred runs deep!
But, don't worry Amycat, one of my best friends went to USC and I have been hearing how awesome you all are ALL week!

In case you missed it (or should i say "were too dense to pick it up" le sigh), I was using "big 8" as a perjorative, kiddo. Cute though, I loooooooove the insinuation of impropriety at USC, because obviously the GREAT OU FOOTBALL PROGRAM (c) has never been accused of such things. There's never been large-scale car-and-money programs there in the 70s and early 80s. Never.
OH, and a good friend of my family's who works in a major college athletic dept never lost a recruit to OU because, in his exact words, "we couldn't afford him." Funny, the only other school that ever happened with was Nebraska . . . go big 8. You are not a unique snowflake - almost every major football program has problems with booster money, whether they like it or not. Knock off the apologist garbage.
You got your asses kicked - don't act like USC is doing something wrong to cover it up. Take your medicine and shut up - the big8 (or should i say "XIII") has been overrated for years. Stoops should have taken the Florida job when he had the chance.

1. I have no allegiance to either team, but I watched the game and even without so many turnovers, I think OU still would have been beaten pretty easily. And I'm always of the opinion that a couple turnovers might be your fault, but more than that and obviously the opposing defense is doing something very right.
2. OK, sour grapes, no need to be so nasty to someone simply because they didn't understand your oddly-worded post!
3. Do you know if she's not from the South? I'm from Michigan and seriously considered USC. AND, there are plenty of intelligent, Southern posters on GC who type "y'all" all the time and I would venture to guess use it in their everday speech as well.
