What is SAI all about?

Hi everyone!
Sorry if I'm crashing your board...
I found this site because I am planning on joining an NPC sorority this spring. However, I do know that there is a small SAI chapter at my school (San Diego State University), but I don't really know anything about SAI. I know that on my campus we have KKPsi and TBS (which is more for the marching band kids) and then there's SAI and PMA, but I don't really know anything about them. I've managed to gather that SAI is a music sorority (but the girls on my campus say it's a fraternity for girls) (?)...but I'd really like to know more about it.

Note: I would have asked about this earlier, but I thought I was only allowed to join one greek organization, period. I was recently enlightened by Kaydee_cutie's thread on membership that I am indeed allowed to join an NPC and an organization such as SAI (is SAI considered a service GLO?) I think that's really cool, as music is the second love of my life

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

SAI is a GLO for women who have a love of music. It is a social organization, not a professional or service group. This is a common misconception, even among SAI sisters. If you are looking for a sisterhood of musicians and music lovers, SAI might be the place for you. You are permitted to hold membership in both SAI and an NPC organization.

If you're not sure who to contact at SDSU, start here:
http://www.sai-national.org/chapters/deltac.html

The chapter at SDSU is Iota Delta, and that site lists e-mail contacts for the SDSU president, as well as the province officer (kind of like a regional director).

You might also want to check out our Purpose and Mission Statement:
http://www.sai-national.org/AboutSAI/purpose.html

Hope that helps! There are several SAIs on GC (in addition to me) who will be happy to assist you if you have any further questions.

Thanks for your help! One of the SAI members on my campus was in wind symphony with me this past semester, but because I didn't think I was allowed to join an NPC and music GLO, I didn't really explore it. But I'll be sure to check it out next semester!
