Cat Stevens Wins Peace Prize

http://edition.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/eu....ap/index.html

ROME, Italy (AP) -- The singer once known as Cat Stevens -- branded by the United States as a potential terrorist risk -- has been awarded a peace prize in Rome for his humanitarian work.

Does he get a trophy with all the terrorist organizations he's supported and the terrorist fatwas he supported for killing people?

^Can you prove he gave money to terrorists?

and why in the world would he get a Nobel Prize for PEACE if that was a fact?

Oh..I forgot..he is a muslim..therefore, he is first and foremost a terrorist.....according to you.

Ummm...he didn't.

He received a "Man of Peace" prize at a meeting of Nobel laureates. Not a Nobel Peace Prize.

Oh..I forgot..he is a muslim..therefore, he is first and foremost a terrorist.....according to you.

In 1998, Yusuf Islam spoke at a fundraising dinner sponsored by an organization, the Jerusalem Fund for Human Services, that has been identified by the Canadian government as a Hamas front group. He exhorted his hearers to donate to the group in order to “lessen the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Palestine and the Holy Land.” In 2000, he was denied entry into Israel for donating thousands to Hamas. Again, Islam denied it all, saying: “I want to make sure that people are aware that I’ve never knowingly supported any terrorist groups — past, present or future. It’s simply an attempt to cast doubt again on my character and good intentions.”

He publicly supported the Ayatollah Khomeini’s death sentence for blasphemy against Salman Rushdie in 1989 (“The Qur’an makes it clear,” said the author of “Peace Train,” that “if someone defames the Prophet, then he must die”).

There are more examples.

Oh and here's something else for you just in case because you seem to have difficulty reading and thinking:

1) I don't care that he's Muslim. I didn't say anything about that. So don't try and make accusations that are baseless.

2) He didn't win the Nobel peace prize. And by the way terrorists have won the Nobel peace prize, including one who had an old man in a wheelchair pushed off a cruise ship. Just because you came from a country that delights in women being stoned doesn't mean everyone needs to accept this BS.

I am beyond ridiculous sticking to the issue and not bringing up off-topic subjects like sorority affiliations and whether the country of origin stones women or not.

Rudey, You're losing your touch...what happened?

Right, so basically you justify terrorism and murder in another thread and in this thread you are happy that someone who supports terrorists gets a prize, don't know what the prize is until Munchkin makes you look stupid, don't know how he supports terrorism until I make you look stupid, and now you're upset because I brought up how you're not in a sorority and have been lurking on Greekchat forever now.

Actually...I see nothing wrong with him getting the prize. He earned it.

Munchkin likes to edit my work, and I let her do so.

And I don't lurk, I post. I hardly doubt me being a member for a year is "forever"...and if you have a problem with this..take it up with John. I'm sure if this is an issue, it can easily be resolved.

Rudey, I don't want to get you all worked up..but what happened to you? You can't possibly be THAT burnt out?

Just in case you didn't see it the first time.

I don't know...he's funded Omar Abdel-Rahman, Hamas, and supported the murder of Salman Rushdie with his words. That doesn't equal a peace prize to me, but maybe I just have a different definition of peace.

That's all true, but he did do Wild World, and that has to count for something.
